You lean onto you bad foot to step through the door. You bit your lip to keep from crying out. The pain was becoming more and more bearable the longer it lasted.
There was one single room. The light was from a candle, and the light flickered and danced acrossed the walls.
Then you noticed the small table that the candle sat on. Underneath the wax stick, was a board. Next to the board was a triangluar peice of wood with a circle of see-through glass.
Flipping the board over, you see numbers and letters carved into it.
It's an Oujia board.
Placing your fingers on the peice of wood, a string of words leave your mouth. You don't understand them, and you don't try to stop, but once you are finished the piece of wood moves.
H-I
"Hello? Is someone here?"
YES.
"Who are you, and what do you want?!" Your voice is weak.
I-M H-E-R-E T-O H-E-L-P Y-O-U.
"I don't believe you! I don't need help!"
A-N-D-R-E-W.
"No!" you start to sob without tears. "You can't bring him back!"
YES.
"How?" talking about him brings you physical pain.
L-E-T M-E S-H-O-W Y-O-U
"Okay, but what's your name? Do you have one?"
E-V
"Ev? as in Evelyn?"
Y-E-S.
"What do I have to do?" You begin to trust this random spirit. Your pain is too strong and it's clouding your judgement.
Y-O-U K-N-O-W W-H-A-T T-O D-O.
Then suddenly your body jerks and you start chanting something in a different language. You talk fast and your voice sounds different.
Your eyes closed and you passed out. What feels like a few minutes later you wake up, but have no control over your body.
Annemarie. You hear someone say, and you start to panic when you can't move to see who it is. Don't worry, I'm part of you now. It's your own mental voice, only someone else is controlling it.
"You can talk?" you say out loud.
Yes. But you don't have to speak out loud.
"I don't?"
No. Just think of what your going to say.
Like this?
Exactly.
So now, we can talk whenever?
Yes.
But, I can't move.
That's because I'm in control. Watch.
Slowly, your body stands up and you spin in a circle.
I can take over whenever I want. But you can move now.
You were able to move. You jumped and walked a couple of steps. Something felt weird, you were no longer cold. It felt like you had a blanket drapped over your shoulders.
That's what it feels like to have a spirit in you.
You can hear my thoughts?
I am you, now.
Oh.
You turn and walk towards the door, but it slams shut.
I can't let you leave, not yet.
Why not?
Because, I'm not done with you.
What else are you going to do? Even you could hear how scared you were.
Don't worry. To prove to you that I'm on your side, I'm going to heal you.
You didn't even have enough time to react before your ankle started to burn. You screamed at the intense pain, and tears form in your eyes and spill onto your face. You scream once more and suddenly the burning sensation was gone.
After a moment you stand up, and find out that you are able to put pressure on both feet.
Sorry about the pain. I had to fuse the bones back together.
The door opens again and you walk through it. You didn't know what time it was, but it was morning. Your parents would be worried if you didn't get home soon.
Don't worry. I can lead you home.
And then your body started moving on its own accord and you were able to just sit back and watch.
